August, the most important month of the FRESH year. Sure it’s still bleak out there, but honestly does it matter? It’s Beervana, it’s the FRESH Club annual meet up and it’s a huge celebration of everything hazy and hoppy. 

It would be a crying shame to offer up anything else but the very best, the absolute pinnacle of monthly hazy goodness to all you fantastic FRESH fans and August does not disappoint! It’s everything I love about FRESH, all together, all at once, in a can.

Pilsner malt brings just a touch more orange gold colour and sweet malt to the beer, with malted and chit wheat bringing creaming mouthfeel and luscious head. This beer needs a big soft juicy malt base to balance the metric fuck tonne of Motueka, Mosaic and Nectraon we’ve loaded into August, in just about every form we could lay our hands on - liquid incognito, cryo and T90 pellets. 

And it works. The aroma is an absolute tropical fruit bomb. Passionfruit, guava, mango and pineapple all jostle to see who can be the star of the show. Just when you think you have a winner, one of the others pushes to the front. 

Take a good big sip and there are those fruits again, still vying to see who’ll come out on top, but this time they’re joined at the end of the palate with sweet pink grapefruit and juicy lime. Then, dare I say it, a pungent little waft of weed, the kind that hits you at a concert and makes you look around to try and work out who the culprit is.

It’s just big, juicy tropical, grapefruit kush nonsense. The impression it leaves when all that sweet malt, tropical fruit, citrus and dank hoppy goodness have finished partying is just one word - balance. I’m calling it. It’s a FRESH fav for me. Happy August everyone.
